Dear ClayHouston members,

It’s June! Summer is officially upon us! *whew* Hope you are all doing well.

We have a couple of fun events this month in partnership with Rice University’s Moody Center for the Arts and their exhibition Brie Ruais: Movement at the Edge of the Land:

On Wednesday June 9th at 4:30pm we have scheduled an in-person exhibition tour followed by drinks on the Moody Center patio. Attendance is limited and we will be following Rice University’s current COVID-19 protocols.

We are also facilitating a community workshop at the Moody Center’s Dimensions Variable event on Saturday, June 12th, from 4pm-6pm. I’d like to say a big thank you to those of you who have volunteered to help out that day! We still have a few open volunteer spots for the later time slot if you are interested in helping visitors interact with and learn about clay!

In other news we have another fantastic Yoga for Artists session coming up on Zoom this month on Saturday June 26th, 10am - 11am! We’re so grateful to have Debra Chronister expertly guiding us through exercises for strength and focus in our artistic practices. Register Here

We had a lively discussion at last month’s mug-themed Clay Talks event (Favorites! Handle techniques! Cool tools! Innovation!) and I’m excited to announce that we have a GLAZE theme and hashtag for the month of June! We’re looking forward to sharing glazing tips, techniques and Q&A at this month’s Clay Talks on Zoom, Thursday June 17th, 6pm-7pm. And use the hashtag #CHglazefordays on social media to share your favorite glaze combos, ideas, questions and more!

Enjoy the sunny days ahead and hope to see you soon!

Jessica Phillips
